A real platform for us real Americans

I’ve been looking over the ballot for next month’s election, and I have to say that our choices for elected positions aren’t exactly inspiring. I’m not going to name names or anything like that, but if you’ve seen the ballot, you’ll agree there’s nobody on it who makes you wish you could vote early and vote often, the way I frequently do.

With that in mind, I would like to officially announce my own candidacy and urge you all to consider me as a write-in candidate. Continue reading »

Western Liberalism and the New Blue Review

Hello, and welcome to the first installment of the New Blue Review, a name that for children of the Seventies such as myself recalls a weird old TV show (check out this clip) but is also intended to be a reference to the new, more liberal west. It’s the discussion of this region and this sentiment – and the future direction of both – that will be the focus of this blog. Well, that and trying to make this an entertaining read each week.

Join hands and sing Kumbaya

Great news, people; just a few more days, and the presidential campaigns will finally be over! Regardless of who wins, I think we can all be thankful for that.

Is there anything positive to be said about a process that takes an American hero like John McCain and, through an endless series of increasingly bitter and negative attacks on his opponent, strips him of his dignity and integrity? Or that paints a decent and dedicated public servant like Barack Obama as some sort of radical socialist and terrorist-by-association? Continue reading »
